We Believe in the Gold. Do You?

If you’ve been reading our blogs, you know that we talk a lot about showing your friends, family, and colleagues that you care. So this week, we wanted to take the time to talk about Believe in the Gold, a local charity we’ve worked with to provide baskets for their galas- as well as promote their message and spread awareness for their cause.

Believe in the Gold is a charitable foundation dedicated to Childhood Cancer. Through their many outreach programs and research donations, this charitable foundation aims to lower the statistics for childhood cancer.  More importantly, they’ve been a beacon of light for families searching for hope while gripping to their child’s life.

This foundation was formed through the inspiration of Jacey Uphill, a courageous 16 year old who was diagnosed with Stage IV Ewing’s Sarcoma. Throughout her treatment, her incredible light and desire to spread awareness for Childhood Cancer became and continues to be the flame behind this foundation. After joining the angels in Heaven on October 14th, 2012, her mother Shonalie created this foundation to carry on her light.

Together with their many volunteers and passionate partners, Believe in the Gold is able to:

1.Spread Awareness

Childhood Cancer is the number disease taking the lives of children, few people know just how many kids are sick. The reality is that every day 7 children die from cancer. Despite this, few know that the golden ribbon is the symbol of Childhood Cancer survivors, their families, and research for the future. Believe in the Gold actively advocates, encourages, and educates people on the realities of Childhood Cancer and how they can make an impact.

2.Support the Families

Not every family is fortunate enough to be able to afford all of the out-of-pocket costs that come along with a cancer diagnosis. Believe in the Gold connects families with the financial resources they need to navigate their health care costs and find relief from financial burden where possible.

3.Continue the Research

Did you know that the majority of cancer treatments used in children’s treatment has remained the same for the better part of 25 years? Neither did we until Believe in the Gold taught us.  It’s that reason that Believe in the Gold runs various charity events from runs to galas to raise funds for Childhood Cancer research.
