Do You Know What You’re Eating?

Consider the food you consume as information for the body. What kind of message are you sending to your body? It’s important to be conscious of what you’re putting in your mouth- regardless of your dietary restrictions or choices.

Now more than ever, it’s common knowledge that processed or low-quality foods do considerable damage to our health.

In case you need a refresher, low-quality ingredients and processed foods have been linked to:

  • Increasing your chance of chronic disease and weight loss issues.
  • Take a toll on your mental health by depriving your brain of nutrients.
  • Impacts your risk of developing certain cancers.

If you’re anything like us, that alone is enough to inspire a few changes! Luckily, a few steps in the right direction can go a long way. You don’t have to become a vegan or health expert to care about the ingredients in your food! It all starts with making the conscious choice to consume foods with high-quality ingredients.

Start small by taking the time to read labels at the grocery store. A general rule of thumb for choosing higher quality items is asking yourself a simple question: Can you understand the ingredients list? If the answer is no, you’re better off looking for alternatives before settling on a selection. You’ll quickly find that lower quality food items tend to have a list of ingredients you need a college degree in food science to understand.

Next, take that initiative from grocery shopping to other realms in your life. Choose to eat at ingredient-conscious restaurants. Always look for a wholesome option, and encourage those you care about to do the same.

This small change inspired us to take that logic into our buzziness and apply the same set of rules to the foods we put in our baskets! Both here are Bumble Bee Baskets and our sister company, It’s In the Basket we do our very best to source local, wholesome, and gourmet foods for our baskets.

The Bumble Bee Baskets Ingredients Promise

We promise to never include items we wouldn’t feed our family.

If we haven’t tasted it, it won’t be in one of our baskets. We believe it’s important to create a set of standards for what you support both as a business and an individual, which is exactly why we fill our baskets with high-quality ingredients and gourmet food choices.

More importantly, we try our best to source local ingredients and handmade items for our baskets to support our community and encourage our customers to do the same and #shopyyclocal. After all, local means fresher!

If nothing else, we hope this blog inspired you to take a look at your eating habits and improve where you can. Whether you cut down on fast food, or simply take the initiative to eat only high-quality foods: Your body will thank you.
