5 Easter Egg Hunts for Kids of All Ages

Easter is right around the corner, and you know what that means; Easter egg hunt! Kids of all ages enjoying searching high and low for those colorful, goodie-stuffed eggs, but there are other ways to spice up the traditional egg hunt. These five easter egg hunt ideas will help make this year’s hunt a memorable one. Keep reading to learn more!

1. Easter Egg Hunt (Willy Wonka Style)

Charlie was excited to find his golden ticket inside of a chocolate Wonka Bar, and it won him and several other children special access to the Wonk Chocolate Factory. When you’re planning this year’s Easter egg hunt, pull some inspiration from this family classic by filling a few eggs with a special golden ticket.

This unique idea makes the hunt for competitive and fun since you can offer special prizes for those who find golden tickets in their eggs. Perhaps a giant chocolate bunny is waiting for the winner(s), or an oversized egg full of candy goodness, or even our Child’s Play Basket.

Be sure to put the golden tickets in accessible places, and maybe offer a second prize for those who don’t find a ticket. This will likely go over better with smaller children since they won’t understand the competitive side quite as much.

2. Easter Egg Printables

This idea will keep those little bunny feet hoppin’ along the trail to find more fun-filled eggs. Inside each of your eggs, place a treat and a small piece of paper or label with fun instructions. For example, you can put things like “Hop on one leg to the next egg” or “Sing your ABC’s” or “Run as fast as you can”. There’s no limit to the fun directions you can include in your eggs, and the kiddos will love the extra fun on top of candy treats.

The best part about this idea is that you can tailor your instructions to suit just about any age group. Get creative with it!

3. Bunny Tracks

The Easter bunny was here, but where did he go?! Let’s follow his tracks! This fun and easy project involves just a little bit of sidewalk chalk and some empty eggs. Using your chalk, draw out some little bunny feet along a pathway, hiding eggs along the way. You can leave some empty eggs along the way as markers for hidden ones, or even leave some fluffs of cotton around to mimic bunny fur.

The kids will love tracking down the Easter Bunny’s footprints, and the broken eggs will make it just a bit easier for the younger ones to find hidden eggs. The sidewalk chalk will wash right off with the next rainfall or a garden hose, so you can do this project pretty much anywhere!

4. Balloon Marker Egg Hunt

If you’re setting up a hunt for mostly younger kids, this is a great idea. Tie a balloon (helium-filled, of course) to each egg. This will act as an easily spottable marker for each egg, and the kiddos get an extra prize when they find an egg. See who can collect the most eggs and balloons! Helium is easily accessible at most dollar stores or party stores.

The trick with this hunt is to make sure the eggs are heavy. Load those eggs with candy so they don’t float away!

5. Glow-in-the-Dark Hunt

If you’ve never done a glow-in-the-dark Easter egg hunt, you’ll want to try this one out. All you need are some glowstick bracelets. Simply crack them, fold them so they fit inside the egg(s), and hide the eggs! The kids will love looking for these little lights in the yard, and they won’t be overly difficult to find. This is perfect for kids of all ages and doesn’t cost much at all. You can find glowsticks at most dollar stores.

You can even get creative with a few of the eggs and put a mini flashing strobe ball inside for a special egg find.

Have Fun With It!

The best part about an Easter egg hunt is seeing the kids’ faces light up when they find those goodies. Offering prizes like gift baskets or a giant chocolate bunny just adds to the excitement. These five ideas are specifically tailored to make your Easter egg hunt one to remember. Happy hunting!
